Embassy of India, Amman in cooperation with the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan celebrated 4th International Day of Yoga in Amman on 21 June 2018 from 1600 – 1930 hrs at the historic and iconic site of Citadel (Jabal Al Qala’a). The event was celebrated for fourth consecutive year by the Embassy of India in Amman, through an invitation open to general public at an open-air location in one of the prime iconic tourist spots of the Jordanian capital.
2. At the beginning of the event, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi’s message on the occasion of International Day of Yoga was played on video screens installed at the venue. This was followed by the inaugural address by the Ambassador who apprised the audience of around 400 at the venue of the importance of the International Day of Yoga and encouraged people to adopt Yoga for a healthy lifestyle. H.E. Ms. Lina Annab, the Hon’ble Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Government of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The event was patronized by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Jordan.
3. The event was very well received in Amman and the huge turnout of people demonstrated the popularity of Yoga and its followers in Jordan. A large number of yoga enthusiasts from Jordan, India and different nationalities took part in the event and experienced yoga session at the scenic Amman Citadel. They included officials, diplomatic corps, media, members of yoga associations, members of the Jordan India Friendship Society, and friends of India in Jordan. Embassy’s Facebook Live feed also got high viewership on the day.
4. In organising an event of this scale and grandeur, Mission was voluntarily assisted by two local Indian organisations, M/s. Classic Fashion who helped with procuring of T-shirts and M/s. United Creations who assisted the Mission by providing part logistical arrangements at the site of International Yoga Day – 2018. Yoga instructors from 12 different Yoga training institutes in Amman then guided the audience through various yoga poses contained in the Common Yoga Protocol prescribed by the Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India. The audience enjoyed participating in the step-by-step instructions given by the Yoga instructors.
5. The assistance of all the yoga institutes and partners was duly recognised and all of them were presented Certificates of Appreciation during the event at the hands of the Chief Guest, Ambassador and the Guest of Honour.
6. The IDY-2018 celebrations concluded with the Shanti Mantras at the end of the event, organised at the Chancery.

The Yoga Day was celebrated at MT Ground Jutogh from 07:30AM onwards. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Sh. Vikrmaditya Singh, MLA, Shimla Rural. The yoga session was taken by renowned yoga trainer Sh. Indar Singh Dhiman as per protocol issued by Ministry of AYUSH. The event was attended by Ms. Seema,Guest of Honor, Chief Executive Officer Jutogh Cantt, Chief Executive Officer 22 Rajput,Vice President & Elected members Jutogh Cantt, Army officers and General public of Jutogh, School teachers, Students and all Staff members of the Cantonment Board Jutogh and Kendriya Vidyalaya Jutogh. A total of 650 people gathered and performed Yoga. During the function several Yoga Aasans were performed as per the protocol issued by Ministry of AYUSH. Refreshment and Yoga literature was distributed among all the participants. The Programme was covered by Local Media partners City Cables, Dainik Savera News, Amar Ujala and Divya Himachal and published by them in their respective news column and Local News channel.
